Step into a more accountable 2024 with Harvest Goal Collective

As a woman in business and a lover of personal growth I'm thrilled to share an amazing group and something that's been a game-changer for me – Harvest Goal Collective. Harvest facilitates virtual accountability groups and networking events for everyday women around the world! It’s not your average support group; it's a one-of-a-kind community crafted by women, for women. The groups are non-judgmental, safe and supportive spaces.

If you are looking to….Start a new business, organize the house and garage, or even develop a consistent morning or exercise routine. Harvest Goal Collective is FOR YOU! What I love most is that it’s not just about business and networking but about supporting the whole woman.

I wanted to sit down with the founders of Harvest, Talia Schneiderman and Stephanie Exner, to ask some questions, share more about accountability, and BTS of Harvest.

Can you share the inspiration behind starting the accountability group? What motivated you to create a space focused on accountability?

Talia and I had been circling around a few different business ideas for a number of months last year and we knew one thing - we wanted to focus on having a service for women. We knew we wanted to work together, but to be honest, we hadn’t come up with the “thing” yet. I was driving one day and listening to a piece on NPR about a woman who was running accountability groups for women at the corporate level, and I thought it was just brilliant. What appealed to me most about that concept is how transformational I already knew groups of women could be for making progress on life goals. I was in my own weekly process group and got to experience first hand how uniquely wonderful it is to have a space where other humans can hold space for you. So what appealed to me was also holding that space for women, but not for therapy and not for coaching. A group for everyday women who want to participate in facilitated support groups focused on goal achievement in every aspect of their lives - for all the goals - personal, professional and educational. Talia and I developed this concept over a few weeks and launched our first accountability group on 12/19/22. This was how our accountability groups were born!

In the context of your accountability group, how do you define accountability, and why is it crucial for the members?

For us, accountability is showing up and checking in, no matter the status of the goal someone is working on. We don’t reward members for the number of goals they achieved, nor do we discipline for number of goals not achieved. Our groups are entirely self-directed. As facilitators, we distinguish ourselves from coaches in that we don’t provide a program or regimen to follow. Each member develops their own course of action and are not reliant on the facilitator to make sure they follow it. Whether they do or don’t is entirely up to them. Just the act of showing up for the group and checking in to discuss progress or lack thereof, is an experience of accountability!

Share insights into how communication is facilitated within the group. What tools or methods have proven effective?

Communication within our accountability groups is everything! The tone of each group is slightly different based on the personalities within them, and the overriding communication style we foster is one of warmth, non-judgement and resourcefulness. It is the facilitators’ job to guide the conversation to make sure everyone gets an equal share of time to discuss their personal goals, as well as allow space for discussion between members. The group aspect is invaluable to what we do, and we rely on the wisdom in the room to provide a well-balanced perspective, knowledge, and support.

Can you share some practical tips for maintaining accountability in both personal and professional pursuits?

The most practical tip we can share is, truly, to join a supportive group where you are given an opportunity to work out the roadblocks on your path to your own goal achievement. Two of the most widely used accountability strategies within our groups are Time-Blocking and Power Hours. These concepts seem to help the most women make the most movement on their individual paths, no matter what the end goal is!

Where do you see Harvest Goal Collective heading in the future? Are there any expansion plans or new initiatives on the horizon?

The sky’s the limit for Harvest. We started this with the intention to offer ourselves a giant umbrella under which we could both pursue what excites us. And so the list of things that are in the works is LONG! A particularly exciting thing we’re launching in January 2024 is Harvest for Love… a unique virtual speed dating experience for single professionals in LA-Pasadena-Ventura. www.harvestforlove.com

This month Harvest is also hosting a Virtual NYE Goal-Setting Party with Los Angeles Fun Events on December 29th from 8:00-10:00pm PST. Anyone can join!
